Thank you for your service

Dedicating 11.11.11 to all who have served.  I heard this morning that 9 out of 10 returning Iran and Afghanistan vets have had someone thank them for their service.  Let's keep an eye out for the remaining 10%.

Special thanks to my parents.  This one's for you, Mom:

Aerographer's Mate 1st Class, Mary C. Batts
Along with her patch & ribbon, that's a NY Times article dated May 23, 1943 (Waves Write Their Own 'Chanteys').  The caption:  "High and dry, I need a guy to tie my tie" sing the Waves at their weekly broadcast called "Notes From the Lady Sailors."  The variety show is produced by Waves, Spars and Marines.

Wow, Mom looks a lot like her granddaughter Olivia... right?

And watching over Connie here is CC Coco - she earned her 'CC' designation by serving as Connie's Cat Coco in my mother's final months.  Thanks also to you, cat-who-served.

(Hoping myself to serve by song.)
